Newborn Photography FAQs

Here are just some of the questions I am asked regarding my newborn photography sessions.

How long does a newborn session last?

Usually a newborn session lasts between 2 – 4 hours. This is to allows for plenty of comfort breaks as needed. Don’t worry if your baby is awake for periods of time, it can be lovely to capture those wide awake times.

How should i prepare for my newborn photography session?

Before your session, take the opportunity to stimulate baby, let them kick and try to keep them awake. Ideally, baby would be tired and hungry upon arrival into the studio. I will ask you to undress baby, leaving them in their nappy but wrapped in a warm blanket. Hopefully, baby will take a full feed and drop off into a deep, milky sleep while I pose them and you sit back and watch me capture their newness.

Do i need to bring any outfits or props?

I have a wide range of outfits (colours and styles) which we will discuss prior to your session. However occasionally I do understand that sentimental props occasionally can be brought, but we can discuss this during our initial meet.

How long do i have to wait for our photos?

You will be invited back to the studio 1-2 weeks after your session to view your images. However there may be a slight delay should the studio be busy. I will however make you aware should there be any delays.

How old should my newborn be?

The best age for newborns to be photographed is between 7-14 days old.

My baby is older than 14 days old. Can we still have a newborn photography session with you?

Should your child be older than a certain age I may suggest a different session which will be more suitable to your child and their age. Drop me a message should you have any questions.
